Giovanni Falcone first came onto the Pizza connection scene in June of ’85. He had interviewed Paul Eduard Waridel who made allegations not yet tested at that time by any Court of Law. On the back of these allegations Dr. Falcone issued a warrant of arrest for Palazzolo on the 11th June ’85, from Palermo for the same facts as contained in the warrant issued in 1984 in Rome. The evidence of Waridel was dismissed by the Court of Lugano that on the grounds that his evidence was fabricated. In 2003 the Appeal Court of Palermo set aside the warrant due to the recognition ofthe principle of Double Jeopardy.
